KRS-One: Power To The Peaceful
Published April 11, 2012 | 7th April 2012: KRS-One visited The Street University in Liverpool, a suburb in South-West Sydney, Australia. He spoke to all in attendance about the history of Hiphop and Hip Hop culture. I was able to catch up with him afterwards.
Let me say this also, to all those who like to talk down on other people’s visions and dreams. After we were blessed to have Chuck D open The Street University in January 2009, I envisioned KRS-One being there too. I kept telling the team that we needed to get KRS there and that I could see him here, enjoying the space, sharing his knowledge and loving the Hiphop consciousness of The Street University.
3 years later, he walks through the doors and blesses us with his presence. I told him that story and he understood it, recognised it and gave me his props and thanks. That was not a credit to me. That was a credit to the entire Street University family and even beyond that, it was a credit to the our belief in a higher consciousness, the power of visualisation and the idea of one creating their own reality.
Don’t be fooled. You are your own reality. That’s the truth.
So here it is. Welcome Tha Teacha, KRS-One into the Power To The Peaceful family. Big ups!
The LION Speaks pre-album on SoundCloud

I hope you are all enjoying The LION Speaks pre-album (Yes. Pre-album. I got more in store for you, no doubt).
I’ve just come to the realisation that many of you may have been hesitant to download the album because you may not want to share your email address and zip code. Fair enough. I totally understand. Let me say 2 things though. Firstly, that information will stay with me, and only me. It is added to my e-newsletter list so I can send out updates. At this point in time, I only send out 1 newsletter a month. So do not fear any spam emails from me.
Secondly, I am giving the album to you for free. The only thing that I have been asking for is your email address and zip code. Is that not fair? A lot of hard work and effort does go into making the music, and I do it because I love doing it. It is a part of who I am. But it does help to know a bit about those who are listening to it and downloading it, so I can let you know a bit more about myself. It’s about building a relationship. Let’s grow together!
With that said, I still want as many people as possible to enjoy the music. So I have uploaded it the pre-album to SoundCloud. I’ve also been told that by having it on SoundCloud, people can now listen to the music on their iPhones and iPads, which is dope! Music for those on the run. Here it is below!

I thought I’d give you guys a heads up on the upcoming free download “The LION Speaks”. It’s almost ready to go! It’s been a pleasure piecing it all together. Highlights would have to include working alongside Omar Musa, Luka Lesson, Farid Farid and 6PounD. These guys are amazing artists and their stuff inspires me, so it’s great to have them on the project. I’ve also been able to work with The 26th Letter (Soul Benefits) and the Sound Smugglaz, who contributed beats to this project. They both have a unique sound that vibes off of a real hip-hop essence.
